John Coppinger, D.O. graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992. After completing internship at the Atlantic City Medical Center, he spent a year in an FP-OMM residency at Ohio University/O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. He is Board Certified by the AOA Board of Neuro-Musculoskeletal Medicine.


Dr. Coppinger was fortunate in his education to meet and study with Dr. James Jealous starting his first week at medical school in September 1988 and continued studying with him until Jim's death. John is part of the original Biobasics faculty and taught with Dr. Jealous in the U.S. and abroad. Dr Jealous’ mentorship opened many doors for him , and he had the opportunity to study with the likes of Louis Hasbrouk, D.O., Robert Fulford, D.O., Ann Wales, D.O., and Herbert Miller, D.O. FAAO..


Dr. Coppinger spent 15 years in Osteopathic General Practice, and 2 years as a Medical Officer in Iraq with the U.S. Dept of State after which he practiced in Bloomington, IN. He then served as OMM vice Chair at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine 2015-2017 and interim Chair at Lincoln Memorial University DCOM until February 2019, when he resumed private practice in Knoxville, TN.
